UML continues House obstructions

Kathmandu- The main opposition CPN (UML) has continued the obstruction in the House of Representatives (HoR).  

Shortly after the commencement of the session today too, the UML chanted slogans and encircled the rostrum ignoring the request of Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota to help the proceeding of the session. The request was in line with the provision relating to Article 105 of the Constitution and the House of Representatives Regulations, it has been said. 

The UML has been demanding that 14 parliamentarians who faced action at the hand of the UML should be punished. 

Meanwhile, the session passed a proposal to withdraw the ‘Federal Civil Service Bill, 2075 BS’ with a majority of votes amidst the protest.  

Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, presented the proposal before the session on behalf of Prime Minister and Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Sher Bahadur Deuba. 

Prior to the endorsement of the document, the session refused to entertain the notice of protest by Nepal Workers and Peasants’ Party lawmaker Prem Suwal.

Likewise, the meeting also passed the proposal to seek recommendations for the permission of the National Assembly to take back the under-consideration ‘Railway Bil, 2076 BS’   originated   in the Upper House. The proposal was tabled by Minister Karki on behalf of the Prime Minister. 
The HoR will next meet on October 11 at 2 pm.
