Gandaki Chief Minister Gurung resigns

Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Prithvi Subba Gurung resigned from his post on Sunday. Chief Minister Gurung submitted his resignation to Province Chief Sita Kumari Poudel as per the Clause 1 (A) of Article 169 of the Constitution of Nepal, Spokesperson at the Office of the Province Chief Chandi Prasad Aryal said in a press release. Accepting the resignation of Chief Minister Gurung, Province Chief Poudel thanked the Gurung-led council of ministers for its performance made so far and has urged the political parties to form a government within three days as per the Article 168 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal. Gandaki Province Assembly was scheduled to vote on Monday in a no confidence motion registered against Chief Minister Gurung by the Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Centre) and Janata Samajwadi Party. But, Gurung tendered his resignation before the House proceedings.
