Country records increased COVID-19 infection, more deaths

The number of COVID-19 infection continues to rise, as the lockdown down has been eased in most parts of the country including the capital.

Today, 2,979 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded against 2,634 on Tuesday, in a 24-hour hour reference period. According to Ministry of Health and Population, the new cases were revealed in a total of 11,898 RT-PCR and Antigen tests carried out in different laboratories across the country. On Tuesday, 12,585 RT-PCR and Antigen tests had been carried out.

With these new cases, total infected number has reached 648,085 in the country so far. The number of daily fatalities also reports a rise, with 28 deaths today, whereas 15 infected patients had died on Tuesday. Furthermore, 1,333 people recovered today in compared to 1,565 yesterday. In comparison, the recovery rate also came down to 94.5 per cent from 94.6 per cent.

The total number of COVID-19 infection in the country has reached 650,162 with another 40,812 detected through Antigen tests. Likewise, as of today, 614,327 people have recovered so far in Nepal. The total number of COVID-19 fatalities has reached 9,291.

Among the active cases, there are still 23,756 people in home isolation, 2,788 in institutional isolation, of which 571 patients are in ICU while 161 are with ventilator support.
