Democracy Day to be observed for three consecutive days

The government has decided to observe the 71st Democracy Day by organizing a host of programmes for three days starting today. A meeting held on February 2 at the official residence of the Prime Minister at Baluwatar had taken the decision towards this end. The Main Organizing Committee chaired by the Prime Minister has been formed to celebrate the day. The day is a commemoration of the end of the century-old autocratic Rana regime and establishment of democracy in the country in the Nepali month of Falgun 7, 2007 BS. On the occasion, the Nepali diplomatic missions abroad will organize various programmes for three days to mark the day. A sub-committee has been formed in coordination of the secretary at the Ministry of Communications and Information and Technology Hari Prasad Basyal to publicize the events to be held during these three days. The government has urged the public to organize Dipawali (lighting of lamps) for three consecutive days.
