The trains for Janakpur-Jayanagar railway service have become ready.
One electric train with capacity of 1,300 passengers has arrived at Sonpur-Hajipur of Patna, Bihar while another has also become ready, according to Director General of the Department of Railways Balram Mishra.
The train, however, cannot be brought to Nepal only a few days later due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The International Coach Factory of India was contracted to manufacture the train while Konkan Railway Corporation had supplied materials.
The department had contracted the Indian company to manufacture two trains at Rs 860 million excluding VAT.
Mishra said the trains have engines on both the sides and can be operated to both the directions.
