Prohibitory order in Kathmandu extended by one week

Prohibitory orders in the Kathmandu Valley have been extended by a week.

A meeting of chief district officers (CDO) of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur on Wednesday has extended the prohibitory orders until September 2 midnight. "Prohibitory orders stricter than the current one have been extended in the Kathmandu Valley by a week," Kathmandu CDO Janak Raj Dahal told Setopati. "We have decided to implement stricter prohibitory orders on everything apart from essential goods and services."

A meeting of three CDOs, local bodies, businessmen and industrialists, health professionals and others on Tuesday had recommended to extend the prohibitory orders in the Valley. "We have extended prohibitory orders after everyone advised an extension," Dahal reasoned.

Sale and delivery of food grains, vegetables, milk and dairy products and other essential goods and services will be allowed, and stores selling these items will be opened until 9:15 in the morning.

Government vehicles, ambulances and other vehicles with passes will not be stopped.

The current prohibitory orders were imposed since August 19 and were to expire today.
