COVID-19 vaccination drive postponed for lack of jabs

The government has postponed the COVID-19 vaccination campaign for now due to lack of COVID-19 jabs.

Prof. Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, the spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population, said that the vaccination program will be administered to the people between the ages of 55 and 64 only after the additional COVID-19 vaccine arrives in Nepal.

The government has planned to inoculate the citizens aged between 55 and 64 starting March 17.

The campaign has been postponed after the vaccine under the Covax facility did not arrive as targeted.

The vaccination campaign started on January 17 and lasted till March 16. So far, 1,644,558 people have been vaccinated against the coronavirus pandemic.

The government plans to give the second dose of the vaccine in the interval of 10 to 12 weeks after the first dose.
